KATHMANDU, March 28: Police have used water cannons and fired tear gas at pro-monarchy demonstrators in Tinkune, Kathmandu, on Friday.
The monarchist group attempted to break through a restricted area and move toward Baneshwor, prompting the police to intervene. Authorities first used water cannons, and then fired five rounds of tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.
After the water cannon was used, the protesters retreated back toward Tinkune. Earlier, a scuffle had broken out when the group tried to head toward Baneshwor, but the police used force to push them back.
