The police team was patrolling the ‘suspected’ hideouts of kidnappers who abducted Bhikan Chaudhary, 55, chairman of school management committee of a local school.
Police said that they fired bullets in retaliation after they were targeted by the kidnappers who were hiding in a nearby maize field.
The whereabouts of Chaudhary who was kidnapped on Saturday are still unknown.
Family sources said that Chaudhary was abducted from his house.
