KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the Ministry of Urban Development to work expeditiously to complete the infrastructure construction of the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground within the stipulated time.

Taking a briefing on the ministry's affairs at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar on Wednesday, PM Oli directed to expedite the work of making the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground an international standard.

PM Oli had previously decided to upgrade the stadium within 300 days of assuming office. The ministry had informed the PM that the bidding process for the construction of parapets and floodlights at the stadium was nearing its final stage, and the contract would soon be awarded.

Oli urged that the agreement process for the next phase of construction be advanced while the work of this phase is ongoing.

In the meeting, PM Oli expressed concern over the general trend of delay in implementing the budget and programs, which should be done promptly since the start of the new fiscal year, as the budget is presented to the parliament on every Jestha 15.

PM Oli said that although the ministry’s current progress for the current fiscal year was found to be only 19.35 and capital progress was found to be only 12.04, the overall progress of the work was found to be satisfactory.

He also instructed the ministry to work without delay as any delay in infrastructure construction would affect the country's production and productivity growth.

In the discussion held with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh and concerned high-ranking officials, the future plans of construction, handover, operation of the Federal Parliament Building, Dharahara, residences of federal ministers, Damak Business Complex, Chandi Dal of the Nepal Army, Nepal Rastra Bank building in Thapathali and the ministry were discussed.
