GORKHA, May 5: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, who reached Gorkha district, the epicenter of the April 25 quake, has said that the government plans to construct earthquake resistant buildings while reconstructing demolished and damaged houses.

“Many houses across the country including Gorkha have been dismantled. Now, the government plans to construct houses that are less impacted by such quake,” PM Koirala said on Tuesday.

Saying that other countries have a separate ministry to manage natural disasters,  PM Koirala opined that such ministry should be formed in Nepal too as it is at high risk of disasters.

“The country is facing one after other crises. Let’s work together than criticizing the government,” he said.

PM Koirala also reached Barpak, the main epicenter of the devastating quake. He left for Barpak after taking stocks of damage and relief distribution from the District Disaster Relief Committee.

PM had arrived in the district on a Nepal Army chopper along with Chief of Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher Rana among others.
