KATHMANDU, Jan 27: Nepal Police on Wednesday pledged free health services to the current national football players in honor of their historic victory during the Bangabandhu Gold Cup football tournament in Bangladesh last week.

Felicitating the national football team amidst a program organized at the Police headquarters, Nepal Police announced to provide all health services to the footballers at the police hospital as and when required. Nepal Police also assured to support national-level football matches with a medical team and standby ambulance in order to minimize health risks.

“It is a minor support from Nepal Police, but an attempt to contribute to the development and prosperity of national sports that unites the whole country,” said Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP) Upendra Kanta Aryal. Addressing the players and officials, IGP Aryal said that achievement doesn't come overnight and needs huge contribution, passion and discipline. He also sought the need of improvement in the quality of Nepal Police football team.

AIG Surendra Bahadur Shah alerted the players to meet the growing expectations of the football fans. Team captain Biraj Maharjan recalled that their achievement was a result of hard labor during short practice and assured to leave no stone unturned to keep up the expectation.

Police on the occasion felicitated 23 national players and four officials. Earlier on Monday, Nepal Army had also felicitated players from Tribhuvan Army Club with cash prize and gift hampers.
