"They can buy cycles using money from the provident fund and take extra loans if needed. This move would definitely motivate other people to use cycles and reduce the demand for fuel," said spokesperson at MoSTE, Padam Raj Devkota.
MoSTE, which has 80 officials, has already received 10 cycles and is waiting for the delivery of other bicycles.

Inaugurating the cycles, Science and Technology Minister Bishwendra Paswan, Secretary Krishna Chandra Poudel and a few other officials rode the cycles inside Singha Durbar periphery on Tuesday.
After a short trial, Paswan decided to return to his apartment on the same cycle.
"Cycle would be the best means of transportation. It will not only keep us in good health but also reduce our heavy dependency on fuel," said Paswan.
