KATHMANDU, Jan 8: A stadium is to be constructed in the memory of former CPN-UML General Secretary, Madan Bhandari at Thulo Dhunga, in Chandragiri Municipality.
The stadium will be constructed in the land owned by Local Forest Users’ Committee.
The construction work of the stadium was flagged off by CPN-UML Chairman, KP Sharma Oli at a program organized by the committee on Saturday.
Addressing the program, Oli said that the construction of the stadium will be remembered as the new chapter in Nepali sports.
Chairman of Madan Bhandari Sports Academy, Binod Shrestha said, “Our plan is to build a multipurpose stadium as an alternative to the Dasharath Stadium.The construction will be completed with a joint initiative of Consumers’ Committee and Chandragiri Development Forum.’’
Member Secretary of National Sports Council Keshav Bista said that the academy has been doing praiseworthy works and expressed his commitments to help as much as possible in the construction of the stadium.
