Locals obstruct roads in Dang

DANG, June 27: Locals have obstructed the Lamahi-Bhalubang section of the East-West Highway since Saturday morning demanding compensation to the family of Chaure Kami. Kami, 45, had died on the spot after being hit by a vehicle at Barakhuti, Lalmatiya-7 on Friday night.



The victim’s kin have blocked vehicular movement at Lalmatiya Chowk by placing stones on the road leaving dozens of vehicles stranded, Area Police Office Bhalubang said. Police said the vehicle’s driver is absconding and they have sped up their search operation.



Likewise, the kin of Santosh Wali have been obstructing the Tulsipur-Hapure road section in the district since 3 p.m. Friday demanding compensation. Wali, 21, of Dudhena of Tulsipur, was killed after falling off the roof of the jeep he was traveling in. The jeep (Na 1 Ja 1376) was heading to Tulsipur from Ragaicha, Dhanauri of Dang.
