POKHARA, Jan 28: The hearing on a petition filed by Rabi Lamichhane, the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is underway at the Pokhara High Court.
The petition, filed to challenge the Kaski District Court’s order and request to release without bail, was presented before a bench headed by High Court Judge Milan Kumar Rai on Tuesday.
The petition follows the January 9 decision by the Kaski District Court Judge Nitij Rai, who set a bail of Rs 6.5 million for Lamichhane’s release in accordance with Section 68 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Lamichhane had paid the bail amount and was released, but dissatisfied with the district court’s decision, he filed a writ petition with the High Court on Monday.
This came shortly after Lamichhane was released on a bail of Rs 10 million by the Rupandehi District Court in the Supreme Cooperative’s depositors funds embezzlement case on Sunday.
