High level Chinese delegation coming to Nepal

HONG KONG, Aug 8: A Chinese delegation led by Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Fu Ying is visiting Nepal to participate in the Nepal–China Consultative Mechanism meet scheduled for Monday.



The five-member delegation which is coming to Nepal after visiting Bhutan has left for Thimpu on Wednesday afternoon.



The Nepal-China Consultative Mechanism was established in April 1966 to be headed by Nepal´s foreign secretary and China´s vice minister of foreign affairs and is the highest level mechanism between the two countries. [break]



Ying is expected to meet Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and top leaders of other political parties in Nepal, it has been learnt.



During a meeting some two months ago in Brazil between Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and PM Bhattarai,  the two sides had agreed to make optimal use of the existing mechanisms to strengthen the bilateral ties between Nepal and China.



The team is set to arrive in the capital on Saturday. The meet is taking place after a gap of four years.
