Nirmala Rana, a 12th grader at Shanti Higher Secondary School in Bellouri, had gone missing after leaving her rented room Thursday afternoon. Her body was found hanging from a tree Saturday afternoon after intensive search by her family. [break]
She had called her elder brother in Mahendranagar saying that she was coming home and her family searched for her throughout Friday. “She had called me saying she was coming home. Someone must have killed her before hanging her,” said her brother Thakur Rana.
The Rana family has requested police to conduct a thorough investigation. “Those using that way through the jungle have been robbed even in the past. We suspect she has been killed by dacoits,” said Thakur.
Police Inspector Nripa Sah, who headed the police team sent from Area Police Office, Bellouri, said investigation into the incident is on. The body has been sent to Mahakali Zonal Hospital in Mahendranagar for autopsy.
