The meeting has also decided to demand that the government give exclusive authority to FNCCI to issue CoOs and to levy 12 paisa per Rs 100 worth of exports.
Of the 12 paisa to be collected from exporters per Rs 100 worth of export, the meeting has proposed to allocate 5 paisa for the concerned chamber of commerce and industry, 2 paisa for commodity associations, 0.5 paisa for bi-lateral chambers of commerce, 3 paisa for FNCCI and 1.5 paisa for institutions or organizations not associated with FNCCI.
“We forwarded the decision of the meeting to the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies (MoCS) today. We will launch protests if the government takes any decision against our proposal,” Kush Kumar Joshi, president of FNCCI, told Republica.
Similarly, the meeting also decided to hold a grand meeting of district chambers of commerce and industry and commodity organizations as well as top government officials to seek ways to end the deep-rooted transport syndicate system once and for all.
“We will invite the prime minister, finance minister, home minister and other top government officials to the meeting to seek the government´s commitment. If the government fails to come up with a concrete step to end the syndicate, will begin our nationwide campaign with a symbolic protest against the syndicate,” Joshi said.
