KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Five supplementary writ petitions have been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR). Earlier, 11 similar petitions had already been registered.
The hearing for these petitions has been scheduled for October 29, according to the SC Spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala. So far, a total of 16 writ petitions have been registered, demanding mandamus and certiorari orders to nullify the appointment of the Prime Minister Sushila Karki, annul the HoR dissolution and reinstate the parliament. Those who filed the petitions include advocates Dr. Prem Raj Silwal, Yuwaraj Paudel and Kirtinath Sharma Poudel, along with Ayush Badal, Makbul Miya, advocates Khadka Bahadur Shah, Dambar Prasad Shiwakoti, Dal Bahadur Dhami, Prakash Bhujel and Bipin Dhakal.
On October 12, a full meeting of the SC, including Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut and all justices decided to resume the registration and hearing of writ petitions.
