According to Clause 18(3) of the Labour Act, 2074 BS, a clear legal provision is specified obligating employers to provide individuals engaged as trainees with facilities in a way that does not reduce social security benefits, such as minimum wage, sick leave, allowances, provident fund, and insurance.
“The ministry has received complaints and grievances from health workers/nursing staff working as trainees in various hospitals and health institutions, teachers and staff of private and public schools, as well as individuals working in various other establishments, regarding not receiving the stated minimum wage and other benefits," the release stated.
This issue has drawn the serious attention of the ministry, it is noted.
