KATHMANDU, Sept 22: The driver who set himself on fire inside a bus at Tripureshwar on Monday has been identified as Arjun Dong Tamang, the District Police Range (DPR), Kathmandu, said.
Dong, who suffered severe burns after setting fire to the bus he was driving, died while undergoing treatment at the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur on Monday night.
According to the DPR, Kathmandu, Dong was a resident of Sisneri in Indrasarovar Rural Municipality-3, Makwanpur. Preliminary investigation has established his date of birth as October 23, 2000.

The incident occurred around noon at the bus stop at Tripureshwar Chowk. Dong set fire to the Ba 5 Kha 4274 bus operated by Riddhi Siddhi Yatayat following an argument with traffic police, according to the preliminary investigation.
Dong was rushed to the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur for treatment. According to the hospital, around 90 percent of his body had suffered burns. He was brought to the hospital at around 1 pm and died during treatment later that night, police said.
The investigation has also revealed that Dong had allegedly been involved in two previous incidents in which he used driving licenses and identity documents issued in other people's names.
In October 2015, Dong was allegedly involved in a bus accident in Balaju in which three people were injured. Police said he fled after the incident and was found to have been using a driving license issued in the name of Sunil Tamang.
Similarly, about three months ago, he was allegedly involved in an incident in which he behaved indecently with traffic police in the Mulpani area. In that case, he was found to have used a driving license issued in the name of Dawa Tamang, according to preliminary investigation.
In Monday's Tripureshwar incident, Dong was using a driving license issued in the name of Dawa Lama, police said.
Police initially identified the deceased as Dawa Lama after finding the license at the scene. Further investigation, however, established his actual identity as Arjun Dong Tamang.
Police said the investigation has also uncovered evidence suggesting that Dong may have used a bank account and citizenship certificate in Dawa Lama's name. The DPR, Kathmandu, said further investigation is underway into his alleged use of identity documents and government-issued documents issued in other people's names.
