KATHMANDU, Nov 22: A meeting of the Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA), a grouping of the ruling and some other fringe parties, on Thursday decided to appeal to opposition parties for broader national consensus from a cabinet meeting due to convene shortly.

FDRA spokesperson Prem Bahadur Singh said the initiative will mainly focus on the formation of a national consensus government so that the new elections, as re-announced by the government, could be held by mid-April to mid-May.

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai is scheduled to address the nation at 6 pm today.
