TANAHUN, Aug 21: Four pedestrians, including a mother-daughter duo, died after a bus (Ga 1 Kha 1819) that had brake failure hit them near Besisahar of Lamjung district Sunday afternoon.
Four people were injured in the accident. Those killed have been identified as 56-year-old Santu Maya Shrestha, of Gaunsahar-8, Lamjung, 27-year-old Maya Kumari Gurung, of Chailung, Pachowk-2, Lamjung, Sumitra Gurung, 27, of Sahaji village, Besisahar, and her three-year-old daughter Sunita Gurung.[break]
The injured have been identified as Sumitra´s husband 44-year-old Yam Bahadur Gurung, 60-year-old Devaki Lohani, of Gaunsahar-8, Lamjung, 28-year-old Rajesh Sunar, of Syangja, and 16-year-old Asmita Gurung, of Pachowk-2, Lamjung. They have been admitted to Lamjung Community Hospital for treatment.
The bus was traveling from Pokhara to Besisahar when its brakes failed near Sera village close to Besisahar. Locals vandalized the bus following the accident, and the driver is in police custody.
