With preparations already underway, a press meet was organized at Soaltee Crowne Plaza on January 12, 2011, to brief about the concert. “Bryan Adams Live in Nepal is going to be one of the biggest concerts in Nepal, period; and we have taken every precautionary measure to make it the safest and most astounding event to date,” the spokesperson of JPR Events, Samden Sherpa, said.
JPR Events in partnership with ODC Network is flying in Adams and his band members to Kathmandu on February 19. He will perform at Kathmandu’s Dashrath Stadium.
Praising the organizers’ efforts, Yogendra Shakya, National Program Coordinator and Vice Chairperson of Program Execution Committee of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 said, “Such events will be a big boost for Nepal Tourism Year 2011. We will provide as much logistical support as possible and wish the team all the best.”
Shakya hailed Sunil Hamal, head of operations at JPR Events, vision as a courageous act and stressed that the event will be the highlight of the year. The organizers hope that events like this will help create a positive image of Nepal abroad.

Replying to the concerns about security and crowd control, Hamal said, “Although the parapet at Dashrath Stadium has the capacity for 19,000 spectators; we will not allow more than 15,000, considering it’s an old structure; around 10,000 audience will be accommodated on the ground.”
The organizers said that they have managed concerts in India with bigger crowd turn out, up to 80,000, and reassured that managing the crowd here would not be a problem. “In fact, we thrive on such challenges. If anything else, we are motivated to give Nepal its first taste of a world class concert,” said Hamal.
Shedding more light on the security measures, Sabal Shah, Director of Garud Security stressed, “More than 1500 security personals will be deployed on the day; Adams will have his own set of bodyguards and we will collaborate with Nepal police and private security agencies to be prepared for any eventualities.”
We will have metal detectors, dog squads, bomb disposal devices in place and three ambulances will be kept stand by, informed the organizers, and added that mobile toilets will be positioned at the corners of the stadium.

Sound systems and stage set up for the event will be imported from India along with four 20X20 LED screens so that even the audience at back can have a good visual experience.
During the press meet, the layout of the stage, designed especially for an unobtrusive view of the performance, was also unveiled. It will have state of the art lightening system with laser beams and fireworks.
“Tickets are expected to be sold out within a few days. Make sure to book yours on time,” shared Samden.
The seating has been arranged in three zones, platinum, gold and silver, with price set at Rs 6,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively. The tickets will bear special 3D hologram and bar code which will be readable only through laser lights and cannot be duplicated.
Tickets will be available at all the branches of Manakamana Development Bank from January 15, 2011.
