The event will be jointly organized by Nepal Amateur Athletics Association and Nepal Veteran Athletic Committee, accoding to a press statement issued by the organizers on Thursday.[break]
This is the second time the event is being organized in Nepal. Earlier, the sixth edition was held in Nepal in 2001.
The championship includes women´s and men´s events in both junior and senior categories as well as individual and team events. Twenty Nepali athletes will compete in the event.
The cost of the championship is expected to be Rs 9.5 million.
VS Niketan, Reliance in quarters
VS Niketan and Reliance on Thursday secured quarterfinal spots in boys´ category in the First Bagmati Modern Inter-college Basketball Tournament winning their respective matches.
VS Niketan eased past Whitehouse 38-27 riding on 15 points of Subash Pun.
Similarly, Reliance had a hard fought 30-29 win over Texas. Surajan Shrestha contributed 14 points for the winning side. Under girls´ section, Whitehouse beat Bagmati 17-13 and Xavier saw off Reliance 29-16. Sami Tamang netted nine points for Whitehouse and Sima Karki scored 11 points for Xavier.
Shankar Dev, KCMIT set up title clash
Shankar Dev Campus and Kathmandu College of Management and Information Technology (KCMIT) on Thursday set up the title clash in the Fifth Prime Cup BBA Cup Boys´ Knockout Football Tournament at Chyasal ground.
In the first semifinal, Shankar Dev beat Campion College 3-1 in the added time after regulation time ended in a 1-1 draw. Bikash Sapkota had given a 50th minute lead to Shankar Dev but Kabi Rai scored the equalizer a minute later. In the added time Bikash Kunwar and Suman Shah scored one each for Shankar Dev.
In another semifinal, a lone goal from Sawal Singh Kathayat in the 61st minute gave KCMIT a 1-0 win over K&K. The final will be held on Friday.
