69 yr old murdered in Pyuthan, two arrested

KATHMANDU, Feb 2:  69 year old Chintamani Upadhyay of Gaumukhi Rural Municipality-5 in Pyuthan, has been murdered. In their initial stage of investigation police have arrested two individuals in connection with the crime.

The suspects, Lok Bahadur Giri, 51, and Jedu Kumari Neupane, 50, both from the same area, were apprehended by a team led by DSP Dipesh Basyal from the District Police Office, Pyuthan.

Upadhyay's body was found on an unpaved inner road connecting Khung-Narikot in Upper Fursedhara, Gaumukhi Rural Municipality-5, at around 8:30 am on January 31. Upon receiving information about the body, DSP Basyal's team promptly arrived at the scene.

The investigation revealed that Upadhyay's head, face, nose, and mouth were severely injured, prompting a murder investigation. Within 24 hours, the suspects were arrested.

Police said that the two suspects killed him using stones and a gun butt. The investigation is ongoing.
