509 police personnel resign from Nepal Police in four months of current FY

KATHMANDU, Dec 19: The number of police personnel resigning from Nepal Police is increasing nowadays. A total of 509 police personnel have resigned from their positions in the first four months from mid-July to mid-November of the current fiscal year 2024/25.

Most of those who resigned are lower-ranking police personnel. Bishwa Adhikari, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Spokesperson for the Nepal Police said that the number of resignations has increased due to issues such as getting opportunities in other areas.

In the fiscal year 2023/24, a total of 792 policemen resigned from their positions. This number is 159 more than the previous fiscal year 2022/23. As many as 633 individuals  resigned in the fiscal year 2022/23.

Similarly, 622 new appointments have been made in the past four months. SSP Adhikari said 248 police officers have retired. During this period, 3,097 police officers were awarded, while 519 others faced disciplinary action.
