2 minor girls raped in one week in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT, Aug 1: A minor girl has been raped at Pataura VDC-6 in the district on Friday.

Local Radheshyam Patel, 18, raped a 10-year-old girl while she was collecting fodders in nearby sugarcane filed.

When the locals approached the site after hearing her screams, Patel fled the scene.


Victim has been referred to Birgunj-based National Medical College after preliminary treatment at Garuda-based clinic. She is bleeding profusely and her private part has been torn by 0.5 centimeter, said Police Inspector Santulal Prasad Jayaswal.

"The victim's condition is out of danger," said Dr Kalam Ansari who is involved in her treatment.

Police said they have launched a manhunt to nab the culprit and investigating into the case.

Earlier, on July 23, a 14-year-old girl had been raped by a local at Bishrampur VDC-9 Baleri Tole.

Police have not been able to nab the perpetrator to date.
