Six people, including five of a family, were killed when the lands gave way in Daud VDC of Doti district. More than 32 families are said to be displaced by the landslides.According to the police, landslides claimed the lives Deva Devi Bista, 37, of Daud-3, her son Harka Bista, 13, Birendra Bista, 5, daughter Saru Bista, 8, and eight-month-old daughter Bhawana Bista. Bista's husband, Dambar Bahadur, sustained severe injuries and is undergoing treatment at Daud Health Post.
Another deceased has been identified as Chandra Kaladevi Singh, 83, of Daud-1, informed DSP Dambar Bahadur Chand of District Police Office (DPO), Doti.
"Around 70 big and small landslides occurred in the VDC. Rescue efforts are still going on. We have not been able to ascertain the damages caused by the landslides," said a police officer Nawaraj Awasti.
Similarly, three members of the same family were killed by landslides in Dibung-3 of Gulmi district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Asha Sarki, 40, her son Gagan, 10, and daughter Indu, 4, according to Inspector Ram Prashad Poudel. Other members of the family--Asha's husband Khadka Bahadur Sarki, and two daughters, Shusma, 13, and Renu, 11--managed to run to safety.
Likewise, one person was killed when landslide occurred in Talabang-3 of Rolpa district. The deceased has been identified as Laxhi Ram Gharti Magar, 55.
