All the Buddhist followers are shocked at the destructive activities in the Buddhist holy shrine where Lord Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment and are saddened by the act, the group said in a press statement here on Monday.

Such activities intended at destroying the world heritage site with high historic and religious value and thereby jeopardizing religious, social and communal harmony are highly condemnable, the statement said.

The group has also urged the Indian central government to make arrangements for safety of other Buddhist shrines in India.

The Bodhgaya is located some 130 kilometers south of Patna, the capital of Bihar state.
