KATHMANDU, April 12: Voting for Free Students’ Union (FSU) election at Saraswoti Campus, Thamel, was concluded in a peaceful manner in the afternoon. The voting had begun at 7 in the morning.

The election committee has announced that the vote counting will begin at 5:30 pm, a member of Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) at the union’s secretariat told myrepublica.com.

The election, which was originally scheduled for March 19, was deferred for today due to dispute among the student unions.

NSU, the student body of Nepali Congress, and All Nepal National Free Students´ Union (ANNFSU), the student wing of CPN-UML, have joined hands for the FSU polls at the campus against Maoist student wing All Nepal National Independent Students´ Union - Revolutionary (ANNISU-R). Other student unions are also in fray.

In the FSU elections held on March 19 and afterward in several colleges across the country, the ANNFSU has established itself as the largest student body while NSU and ANNISU-R are in the second and third positions, respectively.
