During a meeting with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal at his residence on Saturday morning, Charge d´Affaires of the US Embassy Randy Berry said the Maoists´ actions do not conform with their commitments.
The US concerns comes in the wake of seizure of hundreds of bighas of land in Kailali district by the Maoists. At least five persons, including a policeman, were killed in the clash which ensued after the police tried to demolish the illegally built huts.
According to a press statement issued by US Embassy in Kathmandu, the envoy also expressed deep concern over the ongoing political stalemate stating that it threatened to undermine the already precarious peace process. He urged the government and political leaders to forge a consensus to avoid untoward consequences.
