“UNMIN is necessary to conclude the peace process and constitution writing, but leaders of big parties are not serious about it,” Thapa said at a time when NC and CPN-UML leaders are opposing Maoist leaders’ call for term extension of UNMIN.[break]
Thapa is visiting Chitwan along with leaders Badri Pandey and Bikash Thapa under NC’s campaign to revitalize grass-root activities.
“The constitution writing was not completed in presence of UNMIN,” the youth leader added. “When UNMIN exits, it opens the way for parties to be more careless.”
Thapa, who was elected with highest vote in the NC Central Committee, also complained that voices of youth leaders are blocked by party policies. He also added that he would raise the issue in NC’s next meeting.
“The Maoist leaders have at least understood that combatants will not remain disciplined when only under the party,” he said.
Thapa also urged for youth leaders to move out of the party policies for the country. “If we are looking for change, youth leaders have to come out of party policies,” he said. “I am ready, and I urge youth leaders from other parties to sit together for solution of political deadlock.”
