A standing committee meeting of the second-largest ruling party has concluded that expression of grievances on draft constitution from various sections of society was natural as the constitution making process enters the final stage and that the party was for addressing the genuine concerns and valid demands."The meeting has called the agitating sides to express their demands and dissatisfactions through peaceful way, seek solution through dialogue and remain alert against any infiltration that could derail the constitution making process," said a statement issued by party secretary Yogesh Bhattarai, who is also the chief of the party's publicity department.
The party has also directed the party rank and file and its local committees to put their efforts for making the constitution drafting process successful. It has also sought support from all the democratic forces for completing the constitution drafting and strengthening social harmony.
The UML has lauded the role played by security agencies in maintaining law and order.
UML forms team to talk to NC
Meanwhile, the party has formed a committee to talk to the ruling partner Nepali Congress (NC) about sharing political appointments to various bodies.
The committee is headed by former Prime Minister Madhav Nepal and Deputy Prime Minister Bamdev Gautam, party general secretary Ishwar Pokharel, deputy general secretary Bishnu Poudel and secretary Bhim Acharya are its members.
The UML accused the NC of taking unilateral decision while appointing vice-chancellors in four universities and it decided to hold formal talks with the ruling partner.
