According to a statement issued by Surya Thapa, secretary of department of publicity UML, on Monday the meeting is expected to discuss various issues surrounding prime ministerial election. [break]
“The meeting will discuss the party’s role and various opinions on the ongoing prime ministerial election,” the statement reads.
Though the meeting began on July 6, it had been stalled since July 20.
The meeting plays a significant role in the present context as the party has been staying neutral in the PM election after its candidate Jhalanath Khanal pulled out his candidacy in the eleventh hour as per the CC meeting directives. The CC meeting had earlier asked Khanal to garner a two-thirds majority in the parliament if he is to contest in the election.
