According to a press release issued by the UML party office, during the meeting, the UK ambassador inquired about a range of issues related to the forthcoming CA elections, the party´s preparations for the elections and concerns raised by the dissident parties. [break]
In response, Khanal said that the country is fully focused on holding the CA elections and expressed his hope that the poll-opposing parties will finally come on board the election process.
Responding to the envoy’s queries, the UML chairman also informed about the party´s stance on the administrative structural system saying that ceremonial presidential system and the directly-elected prime ministerial systems would be best for Nepal, the statement said.
Chairman Khanal informed that his party is of the view that seven provinces would be suitable in the federal structure to incorporate cultural, ethnic and geographical concerns.
Khanal said that the constitution drafting process will be ensured if the “democratic forces” get a victory in the forthcoming CA elections.
Envoy Spark stressed on the need of holding the elections and expressed hope that Nepal´s political parties would be able to hold free and fair CA elections. He also reiterated that the UK will continue its support to Nepal.
