UK aid for Nepal army

KATHMANDU, July 19: The UK government has provided life water filtration equipments worth £22,000 to the Nepal Army´s Directorate of Disaster Reduction and Resilience aiming to boost Nepal’s disaster management capacity.



The UK ambassador to Nepal, Andy Sparkes on Friday presented 115 Lifesaver jerry cans and 99 Lifesaver water bottles to NA amid a ceremony at the army headquarters.



"The British Government is committed to supporting Nepal’s ability to plan for and respond to a major natural disaster, recognising that the effects of climate change and the risk of a major earthquake are two of the most fundamental challenges facing Nepal," reads a statement issued by the British embassy in Kathmandu.
