UDAYAPUR, July 19: The number of women involved in drug use and trafficking in Udayapur has been steadily rising in recent years, according to data from the District Police Office (DPO), Udayapur.
Figures show a sharp increase in female involvement in drug-related offenses over the past three fiscal years. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kedar Man Dong, spokesperson for the DPO, said that in the fiscal year 2024/25 (mid-July 2024 to mid-July 2025), female involvement in drug cases nearly doubled compared to previous years.
During that period, 151 men and 12 women were apprehended on drug-related charges. Police registered 89 cases and proceeded with legal action against those involved, Dong added.
In the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023/24, a total of 142 people were arrested in drug-related cases, including 6 women and 136 men. That year also saw 89 cases formally registered.
In FY 2022/23, only 3 women were arrested on drug charges. The total number of arrests that year was 99, with 96 men and 63 cases filed.
These figures highlight a consistent annual increase in female involvement in drug-related crimes — rising from three arrests three years ago to six the following year, and doubling to twelve most recently.
