KATHMANDU, Aug 6: A Community of Drug Users in Nepal has demonstrated in front of Chakrapath-based Nepal Consulate of the Republic of The Philippines denouncing its ‘inhuman’ crackdown on drug addicts in the Philippines.

A group of drug addicts and the other unions associated with it have come down heavily on the Philippines government for its recent move to wipe out drug addicts and those involved in narcotics transaction, dubbing it ‘inhuman and against the international law and convention.’

The group has strongly demanded that the Philippines should stop killing drug addicts immediately and adopt another means to tackle the problem.

The Philippines government has been coming hard on the drug users including those involved in narcotics peddling since President Rodrigo Duterte assumed office in June.

"As many as 1,000 drug addicts have been inhumanly killed so far since the crackdown on drug users in Philippines," reads the statement issued by Federation of Drug Demand Reduction, Nepal on Friday.
