Unveiling the manifesto, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that the party has proposed ethnic identity-based 11 provinces, referendum on national issues and promulgation of the constitution within a year. [break]
It has also proposed directly-elected executive president and the prime minister elected by the House of Representatives to run daily administrative affairs, among others.
Dahal said that the commitment paper was prepared to institutionalize the achievements of the people´s war, people´s movement and other movements.
During the program, Dahal also urged one and all to give a clear majority to the UCPN (Maoist) and two-thirds majority to the progressive forces.
Speaking at the program, coordinator of the election manifesto drafting committee and former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai urged the people to give a clear majority to the party adding that the party failed to implement the people´s agendas due to lack of a clear majority in the erstwhile CA election.
Dr Bhattarai said that the party has a plan to make Nepal one of the richest countries in the world. He said hydro power, agriculture, tourism and herbs are the major bases for economic development.
Main points incorporated in the manifesto:
• To upgrade Nepal’s economic status in a high level in forty years.
• To end poverty and foreign trade deficit in 15 years.
• To establish foreign policy with neighboring countries India and China on the basis of equality.
Senior leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Spokesperson Agni Sapkota, among others, were present during the program.
