The deceased have been identified as Kesharman Rai, 34 and Kushal Giri, 31of Satasidham-9. [break]
According to the District Traffic Police Office, Birtamod, Rai and Giri both traveling in a cycle were hit by a Maruti van (1 Cha 2807) coming from the opposite direction, in an attempt to overtake another vehicle.
The duo succumbed to their injuries while being rushed to the hospital. The driver of the van, Chatra Bahadur Gajmer has also sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at Birtamod.
