Two held in connection with stealing Rs 6m

KATHMANDU, Dec 16: Police arrested two persons in connection with stealing valuables and other properties worth Rs. 6 million belonging to Rajendra Ghiraiya of Lazimpat, Kathmandu, and made them public organizing a press conference here on Sunday.

Police arrested Loknath Sapkota of Kushadevi VDC Ward No. 7 of Kavre district and Reshma Rai of Sane VDC Ward No. 8 from Dhankuta district and living in a rented house in Kirtipur.[break]

They are accused of stealing gold, silver, and other valuables including cash worth of Rs 6 million from Ghiraiya´s house on December 12, said Ganesh Bahadur Thapa, Superintendent of Police at the Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka.

Police arrested the two persons, who were absconding right after stealing the property, from Jhyaindanda of Makawanpur. They had made the planned burglary making a forged key when the house owners were out.

Sapkota had been working at Ghiraiya´s house for the last 11 months as a cook, while Rai had been working for 45 days.
