Trinity qualifies for B div national league

KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Trinity Club of Syangja qualified for the B Division National Football League on Sunday. Trinity defeated SM Sports Club of Dhanusha 2-1 on Sunday to register its second victory in a row during the super league round of Red Bull B Division Regional Football League being held in Waling, Syangja.



Ajay BK netted twice for Trinity in the 35th and 38th minutes. Earlier, Bimal Lama had given the lead to SM Sports in the 21st minute. Trinity had defeated New Generation Club of Sindhupalchowk 4-1 on Saturday. [break]



In the day´s kick-off match, Kasturi Yuva Club of Siraha edged past New Generation Club 2-1. Binod Kumar Chaudhary and Tarani Prasad Chaudhary scored one apiece for Kasturi in the 23rd and 44th minutes respectively. Pasang Sherpa pulled one back for New Generation in the 70th minute.



C Div National Football League from Tuesday

Red Bull C Division National Football League will begin on Tuesday in the capital. UNBC of Dang will play against Samaj Kalyan Khelkud Kendra of Kathmandu in the opener.



According to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), the league featuring six teams will be held at the Nepal Police Academy, Maharajgunj in round-robin format.



The participating teams include the top four teams of the Martyrs Memorial C Division League -- Satdobato Yuva Club, Sri Kumari Club, Khumaltar Yuva Club and Samaj Kalyan Khelkud Kendra -- and two teams qualified from C division districts -- NBC of Dang and Barda FC of Dolakha.



The top four teams of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 150,000, Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. Similarly, the best players in four different positions -- goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward -- and the best coach will be awarded Rs 10,000 each.



Meanwhile, the draw for the tournament was made public on Sunday at the ANFA office.



Baneshwar badminton c´ship begins today

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Awaaz Nepal is organizing Baneshwar Badminton Championship 2012 First Valley-wide Open Running Shield 2012 from Monday. The tournament will be held at the Complete Health Complex at mid-Baneshwar and will have men´s singles and men´s doubles events, stated Kedar Bajagain, the president of Awaaz Nepal during a press conference on Sunday. Altogether 16 players in men´s singles and 35 pairs in men´s doubles will compete in the tournament being organized under the technical assistance of Kathmandu District Badminton Association. The winner and the runner-up of men´s singles will bag a purse of Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively while the doubles winners and runners-up will get Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. The best player of the tournament will also be awarded.
