Trafficked teenage girl rescued from India

ARGHAKHANCHI, April 22: A teenage girl, who was trafficked in India five months ago, has been rescued.

The Shanti Rehabilitation Centre at Krishnanagar, Kapilvastu district rescued the 14 year old girl, who hails from Dharapani-6 of Arghakhanchi.


On November 24, 2014, the girl was lured with a proposal of a good job. An elder sister by relation from the same village had made the proposal to the girl and sent her to India with one Sunil Nepal and his wife Asmita Nepali of Thada-5. Sunil sold the girl in Himanchal province, India.

The teenage girl said she was forced to tend to domestic chores and subjected to repeated sexual harassment by Sunil. The girl was rescued from Kinnaur district of the Himanchal province.

The girl's father is preparing to lodge a complaint against the persons involved in trafficking his daughter to India, it is learnt. Legal action will be taken once the complaint is filed, according to police. RSS
