KATHMANDU, Oct 24: Travelers who left Kathmandu Valley to celebrate Dashain have begun returning in large numbers, increasing traffic at major entry points and on roads leading into the valley.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, traffic has increased along the Nagdhunga to Kalanki, Jadibuti to Koteshwor, Jagati in Bhaktapur, and Dakshinkali to Pharping road sections. The growing number of returning passengers and vehicles has made traffic management more challenging.

Around 1,000 vehicles, including private cars, jeeps, motorcycles and public transport of various sizes, pass through the valley’s major entry points each day.
More than 576,000 people left Kathmandu Valley to celebrate Dashain between Ghatasthapana and Kartik 3 this year. With the festival over, the number of people returning to the valley has begun to rise.
