KATHMANDU, April 17: Top officials of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and UN Population Fund (UNFPA) are visiting Nepal from April 18 to 25 to take stock of UNDP and UNFPA activities here.

During the visit, eight members of the joint executive board of UNDP and UNFPA will hold meetings with the government and non-governmental stakeholders, local communities and UN partners. They are also scheduled to conduct field visits in districts where UNDP and UNFPA are supporting enterprise development and rebuilding of local infrastructure for improving the quality of people’s lives for peacebuilding.

Issuing a statement, UN Information Center has said the executive board members will also visit mobile reproductive health camps in Nepal and see for themselves how UNFPA delivers emergency services to conflict-affected populations.

They will mainly focus on how far the development gains have managed to translate social, political and cultural aspirations into tangible changes in the lives of those in whose name the current political transition has been launched.
