KATHMANDU, Oct 18: New chief of Metropolitan Police Range (MPR) SSP Bikram Singh Thapa has decided to act tough against the goons if they fail to comply to law and order in the country.
"We will allow the goons to mend their ways," Thapa said in his first press meet in Kathmandu today. "If the goons fail to comply to law and order, shoot on sight will be the last resort," he added. He made it clear that he doesn't bow to any pressure. "Bikram Thapa believes in action rather than big talks," he added, "I am here for the security of the citizens and this won't be compromised."
Thapa unveiled three 'S'—Sweep, Screening and Shootout--strategy to contain the impunity in the valley. 'Sweep' will arrest the goons. In 'Screening', the police will go through the goons past records and suggest them to mend their ways. If they fail to comply with law and order of the country, police will carry out 'Shootout'.
"There are no goons here," he added, "There are only looters."
