The fate of the champion was decided through spotkicks after the regulation time ended in a goalless draw.[break]
In the dramatic tiebreaker, Karna Limbu missed the fifth goal of spotkick for Knight Chess which became enough for Three Star to lift the title as Nirajan Malla had converted his spotkick taken before Limbu making the score 4-3.
Earlier, Bikram Lama, Bijay Dhimal and Ravi Thapa had succeeded in scoring initial three spotkicks for Three Star while Deepak Rai, Azad Pradhan and Sachindra Dhimal had netted first three spotkicks for Knight Chess to level the score 3-3.
Both, Three Star and Knight Chess failed to score their fourth spot kicks. Ganesh Khadka´s fourth spotkick for Three Star was denied by goalie Min Basnet. But Bishal Rai B also missed the spotkick as goalie Rupak Shrestha brilliantly saved it again leveling the score 3-3.
The match, played at the ground of Triyuga Higher Secondary School, was competitive from the start to final whistle .
Prabesh Katwal of Knight Chess Club was adjudged the best player and Bikram Lama got the man-of-the-match award. They received Rs 5,000 each.
The winner Three Star Club bagged purse of Rs 100,000 along with trophy coated by one tola of gold and certificates. Runners up Knight Chess received Rs 50,000, trophy and certificates.
