Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Ramesh Kumar Shrestha, chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police, said police nabbed the duo four days ago from Thimi area in Bhaktapur in course of searching the culprits involved in abducting one Kedar Bahadur Thapa, a resident of Koteshwor. They had allegedly taken Rs 2.5 ransom for Thapa’s release.
Police have seized a Santro car and two set of mobile phone from them.
AIGP Shrestha said the arrested Shrestha was also involved in smuggling hashis, small arms and red sandalwood and was released from jail on bail some one year ago. Likewise, another arrested Tamang was into hooliganism and red sandalwood smuggling, police claimed.
Meanwhile, police also arrested absconding kidnapper Ram Kumar Shrestha, 26, of Tauthali VDC-8, Sindhupalchowk. Police said the arrested Shrestha was involved in the kidnappings of various five persons in the past as an accomplice of the notorious kidnapper Bhimsen Pandit, who is now serving prison term.
