KATHMANDU, Sept 4: Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal, Kamal Thapa, has accused the government of becoming a mute spectator over the alleged financial irregularities taking place in medical education sector.

Taking part in a face-to-face programme organised by the Reporters' Club Nepal here Friday, leader Thapa accused the government of not taking any measure against alleged corruption reported in the medical colleges.Expressing his solidarity to the ongoing agitation by Prof Dr Govinda KC for reforms in the medical sector, he said the government should take his demands seriously. It may be noted that Dr Govinda KC has been on a hunger strike (for the sixth time) since the past 12 days, seeking an end to misconduct in medical sector.

The RPP Nepal has demanded the formation of a committee to probe into alleged irregularities in medical sector and would continue the protest until the demand was addressed, he said.

On a different note, he said the promulgation of the new constitution is possible within a week if the major political parties became honest to the existing CA calendar. RSS
