KATHMANDU, July 3: As the medical reports failed to establish the cause behind the mysterious death of Gita Chaudhary, 24, who was found dead on June 9 at her rented flat, the authorities have decided to send the report and samples to India for DNA test.

The postmortem and viscera test reports couldn´t determine the cause and are soon to be sent to India, DSP Chakra Bahadur Singh, spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police Range Office, said. According to him the DNA test will be carried out in India soon and after that we will be able to know the real cause of her death. [break]

Chaudhary, originally from Rupauliya-8 in Nawalparashi district, was found dead in her rented room at Samakhushi and had been living alone in a house owned by her friend and her husband since the last two years. She was found with the lower half of her body naked and dozens of bruises and blood stains in her body. The doors of her room was locked from inside but the window was open.

The family members on Wednesday, after 24 days of the incident, received the dead body that was kept in the mortuary of TUTH, Maharajgunj in the presence of former home and deputy prime minister Bijaya Kumar Gachachhadar and other Nepal Police officers.

After the viscera test showed that there was presence of semen in the vaginal area of the deceased, we are sure that the girl was raped before she was murdered, said the Gita Chaudhary (Tharu), a woman rights activist. "We received the body after authorities assured us that the accused would be nabbed," she said.

We hope the DNA test would be helpful in identifying the murderer, said family members.

If the police fail to nab the murderer even after the DNA test, we will launch protests, Tharu said.
