KATHMANDU, April 26: The Temporary Teachers Struggle Committee, 2069 BS has withdrawn all its protest programmes after the government agreed to allow all the temporary teachers to participate in the internal competition under the vacancy advertisement opened recently by the Teachers Service Commission.

The agreement to this effect was reached in talks held Thursday between representatives of the Struggle Committee and Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Surya Gautam.[break]

As per the agreement, the temporary teachers who started teaching since April 24, 2006 would be allowed to participate in the internal competition for filling vacancies for different teaching posts by amending the existing Education Act.

The Teachers Service Commission had on January 4, 2013 advertised for filling vacant posts. Before this, the law provided that only teachers who were given temporary appointments before this date could participate in the internal competition.
