The district court also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on Narayan Shrestha, a teacher at Janjagriti Higher Secondary School, for forcing three of his pupils into having unnatural sexual relationship with him.
On November 10, 2011, three of Shrestha´s students, all of them, had lodged a complaint against him at the District Police Office of Sindhupalchok. A local child club and a women´s committee had helped the victims seek justice.
Acting on the complaint by the child victims, the district police had arrested Shrestha and filed a case against him at the district court on December 8, 2011. Three days later, Shrestha was sent to judicial custody.
In their complaint, the victims had claimed that Shrestha repeatedly raped them by promising to help them secure good marks in the exams. All the victims were primary and lower secondary level students at the same school.
