KATHMANDU, April 30: The emergency meeting of executive committee of Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) has formed 'TAAN Natural Disaster Rescue and Relief Committee' under the leadership of TAAN President Ramesh Prasad Dhamala to streamline search and rescue of missing trekkers and support staff as well as earthquake victims and distribute relief materials to them.
Similarly, it has formed a three-member 'TAAN Natural Disaster Search and Relief Fund' under the leadership of Gokul Sapkota, coordinator of Crisis Management Sub-Committee of TAAN.
TAAN contributes funds to PM Disaster Relief Fund
Kul Bahadur Gurung second vice president and Sagar Pandey General Secretary are the other members of the fund. The fund has opened an account at Tourism Development Bank.
"Individuals, national and international NGOs can deposit their support to the fund's account (001000290301) at the bank. TAAN office-bearers and executive committee members have pledged to jointly contribute Rs 500,000 to the fund. Similarly, TAAN staff members will contribute one day's salary to the fund," added the statement.
