Speaking at an interaction jointly organized by Friends Service Council (FSC) and Consumer Rights Protection Forum (CRPF) in the capital on Monday, Surya Bahadur Thapa, president of FSC, said the government should effectively manage and utilize 6,000 rivers of the country for drinking and irrigation purposes.
"Scarcity of quality drinking water is causing untimely demise of around 10,000 children below five every year. So, it is high time that the government start utilizing rivers for drinking water supply in the rural areas and avoid the deaths," said he. Energy Minister Radha Guawali said that the ministry is working to ensure quality drinking water supply in the rural areas of the country.
