KATHMANDU, June 16: Marking the occasion of World Blood Donor Day on June 14, the clubs and council of Thames International College organized a blood donation program. The National Academy of Medical Science (NAMS) showed their support by providing a venue for the program.

The organizers of the program were, Student Council of Thames International College, IT Club, The Management Club, Social Work Club and Office of Student Affairs, who all are part of Thames International College. The Rotaract Club of Thamel was also one of the organizers.

The program was initiated keeping in mind the scarcity of blood caused by the recent earthquake. It helped to collect a total of 80 pints of blood. The event was open for all.Secretary of the Student Council of Thames International College, Roshan Aryal, said, "We had learned through a newspaper that the country is experiencing dearth of blood. While also going to several villages for relief distribution, we had been saddened by the faces of those injured. We then felt that we should also contribute in our own ways. It's how this idea was born," he shared.

Roshan, who also donated blood during the event, said it made him "feel happy from within."
